Introduction to digital photography -one day course. £115
This course is aimed at the complete beginner to those with some understanding of digital photography. Even if you are using some of the manual controls on your camera but don't fully understand the principals - this course will suit you. The day will include several workshops in aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and exposure control. It will also include the rules of compensation and how you can apply compensation creatively to drastically improve your photography. You’ll learn how to create depths of field and how to produce a sense of movement to capture the action.
The day starts at 9.30am and finishes around 4.30pm - we always hang around later than that to answer specific questions or to run through additional topics, depending on how hungry you are for more knowledge!
We don’t like too much theory and whilst you will learn the important lessons of how the camera works, we’ll also get you out there using your camera and taking photographs. For more information or if you have specific questions then click here. For dates and locations click on booking & dates
Two day course - introduction to digital photography. £180.
The second day will be a re-cap and expanse of the first day. We’ll take you out to a nearby location, where you’ll take part in a detailed photo-shoot. You will be given a set brief with specific tasks that you’ll have learnt from the previous day’s session. You will have the course trainer with you but you’ll be rolling your sleeves up and getting ‘creative’ by putting into practice everything you have learnt. Practice makes perfect, so this is a great way to get completely immersed and learn at a deeper level.
We’ll then head back to view the images taken, so we can 'ooh' and 'aah' at your new creative talent, critique, give tips and ensure you have picked up the necessary skills to enable you to be let loose onto the world!

Advanced courses from £150
Our advanced courses are for those of you that would like to build on your fundamental knowledge and skills of photography. Aimed at the budding photographer who would like to utilise their skills either to earn money from photography or simply to take their hobby to the next level.
Advanced digital SLR. (One day £150. Two day £250)
This one or two day course is aimed at those who want to take their photography to the next level. We cover advanced techniques in shutter speed, aperture, lighting, exposure compensation, histograms, composition, portraiture, landscape and studio. Click here for full details, dates & locations.
Wedding photography - introduction course. £250.
This one day course will provide you with the essential tips, skills & information to enable you to go out confidently and successfully to photograph a wedding. You'll be working with real life models, and will therefore be able to begin / build your wedding photography portfolio. Click here for full details, dates & locations.
Portrait & studio photography. £195.
This one day course which runs in our converted Lace Mill Nottingham studio will give you the opportunity to learn and use all of our studio equipment to take photographs of working models. This is very hands on and we'll run you through everything you need to know about portraits, equipment and lighting. You'll be able to use the shots from the day for your portfolio. Half day introduction to digital photography. £75
This is a half day or evening workshop that will provide you with useable, practical and creative skills. You will learn vital information that will enable you to operate your digital camera effectively. You won’t have to worry again about your friends and relatives having to trawl through your holiday snaps without falling to sleep! One to one training.
If you are looking for something more specific or need us to fit in around your schedule, then one to one training will be ideal for you. We call this our ‘get from where you are now to where you want to be’ training. These session(s) are bespoke and tailored, depending on what you are looking to get from them.
You will be given a free telephone consultation with one of our team here at Red Cloud. We’ll ascertain your specific needs & goals, timescales and level of understanding. We will then select a photographer / trainer who fits your criteria and quote you a price. These one to one sessions can either be done at a your place of work, your home, out on location or at our training facilities.
